 Webmail FAQ's:

  • What is my USERID and PASSWORD to sign in to webmail?

The USERID for webmail is your FULL email address (i.e. you@hoodcentral.com).  Your password will be the original password that you were given when the address was setup, or your newest password if you have since changed it.

  • How do I get to webmail on another persons computer?

The easiest way to get to the webmail login screen on any computer, is to visit www.hoodcentral.com, and use the webmail link at the top of the home page.

  • When I try to sign on to webmail, I get "Login Failure"?

Verify that you are using your FULL email address as the USERID to sign in (i.e. you@hoodcentral.com).

  • If I check my email on a public computer, can anyone come behind me and get into my mailbox?

Not if you click on "Logout" once you are done.  Simply visiting another website will not log you out of the webmail program.  If you do not logout of webmail once you are done, it is possible for someone to use the browsers "Back" button to basically backup into your mailbox.

  • I have emails that I received on my home computer, but I can't see them in webmail?

When reading emails through the webmail program, you are basically reading them directly off the email server.  When you check for new emails on your home computer, the emails are downloaded to your computer, and then deleted off the mail server.  This prevents the problem of multiple copies of the email ending up in multiple places.  Therefore, any emails that have been "downloaded" to your home computer, will not be viewable from the webmail program.  The only messages you will see in webmail, will be new unread messages.
